Treble Cone has an inspiring view over Lake Wanaka, Mount Aspring and The Southern Alps. Treble Cone has 550 hectares of varying terrain with slopes to suit all, making it a great place for beginners to advancing intermediates and experts. Its proximity to the Southern Alps makes reliable snow conditions and weather and is protected from the bitterly cold southern winds. Treble Cone offers more intermediate and advanced terrain than any other South Island ski area with the largest vertical rise in the southern lakes. The closest accommodation is located in Wanaka.

Treble Cone is located at the Southeast end of South Island New Zealand in the Southern Alps.   The closest town is Wanaka, which is about a 35min drive away.  Treble Cone is beautiful with its unique wilderness area with a view of alpine scenery.

How to get there

There is no accommodation on snow at Treble Cone, the close place to stay is Wanaka.

By Air - There is a small regional airport at Wanaka running services from Christchurch.  International and domestic airlines fly to Christchurch and Queenstown. When you arrive at the airport either choose from one of the many car rentals companies or catch a shuttle bus to Wanaka.

By Car - It's approximately 500km from Christchurch which takes approximately 6hrs or 90km from Queenstown, 2 hrs. 

To Treble Cone - From Wanaka it is about a 35 minute drive up to Treble Cone, The road is unsealed and can be a bit hairy as times, for inexperienced alpine drives shuttle buses can be booked to take you to and from the mountain each day.

On the trail facts

Treble Cone received its name because of the natural arrangement of rocks at the top of the mountain. The mountain has some of the most challenging and scenic slopes. Although there is very little terrain for beginners, Treble Cone offers a great beginners training school. Once graduated, more terrain becomes available. For the intermediate skiers, the easy rider trail has undergone enhancements to offer a wider trail for the less confident riders.  Advanced riders do not need to hike to the top of the mountain to find the best terrain as the majority is accessible from the lifts.

Après Ski

Wanaka is not as crazy as Queenstown for après ski partying, it has half a dozen bars and many restaurants to choose from some with great lake & sunset views.  The best party bar is Shooters with regular promos.
