Resort Overview

Remarkables Alpine Park is a beautiful alpine location with great slopes, fantastic terrain and great snow. The Remarkables are a mountain range and ski field in Otago, South Island of New Zealand located on the south eastern shore of Lake Wakatipu. The mountains were named the remarkable because they are one of only two mountain ranges in the world which run directly north to south and upon seeing the sunset one evening was named Remarkables to describe the sight. Remarkables has trails for everyone, whether you're a beginner or expert. The whole ski field area is 540 acres with a total of 6 lifts and 31 runs. A fully licensed learning center accommodates children aged three months to five years of age and from the learning center they then graduate to ski programs for all ages up to 17 years of age. Kids under 10 receive a free daily lift pass. A fun filled Ozone park is a downhill tubing adventure available with no experience required. A free of charge transport service is available often to and from the mountain and snow center.

The remarkable are a mountain range and ski field in the South Island of New Zealand. Located on the southeastern shore of Lake Wakatipu. The range is clearly visible from Queenstown located about 45 mins away.

How to get there

By plane; there are many affordable flights from Sydney and other main destinations to Queenstown New Zealand. Once you are in Queenstown there are many car rentals around the town. It is possible to drive from Queenstown to the mountain but when conditions are bad, chains and a 4WD are recommended.

If you are driving the best route to follow is head southeast on Stanley St toward Beetham St, Turn left at Frankton Rd, Turn right at Kawarau Rd, Continue on Kingston Rd, Turn right to stay on Kingston Rd until you arrive at Remarkables ski field.

If you do not have a vehicle you can take the free ski shuttle to the mountain that NZski is offering from Queenstown snow center in town on Duke Street. The free shuttle departs at 8am, 9am, 10am and 11am. There are alternative shuttles that run and cost a minimum of $10.00 per adult and $5.00 per child.

On the trail facts

The Remarkables display the best southern hemisphere views and chutes. They offer a snow tubing park, a novice terrain park and the countries best back country slope 'Homeward Run'. A great slope for beginners is equipped with 3 surface conveyor lifts. There are two additional chairs which offer's the novice skier/boarder a wide range of intermediate trails. The shadow chair offers a wide terrain for the advanced and expert skier/boarder. Lift served and hikable mountain terrains offer excitement for free skiers.

Après Ski

The Remarkables offers only one café there which you can enjoy a great selection of hot and cold delights for the taste buds, includes gluten free options. After all the lifts close you can take a short drive or shuttle to Queenstown. There you can enjoy the vibrant nightlife Queenstown has to offer. A variety of accommodation, bars, casinos and restaurants are there for you to enjoy.
