Resort Overview

Coronet Peak is the South islands most popular mountain resort. It has offered more
than 60 years of a passionate and committed ski area.
A multimillion dollar investment was brought on in 2008 on a new base building and 141 new snow cannons. Coronet Peak is the training ground of New Zealand's national ski team. All accommodation is off the mountain but facilities at the resort include several eateries, a huge heated deck, snow sports school, retail and repair areas and a licensed crèche all located at the base area.

Location

Coronet Peak is a commercial ski field in Otago New Zealand, located 18 kilometers northeast of Queenstown. The peak is one of New Zealand's most popular resorts. The sight from the ski field is breathtaking and the view you receive is south across Lake Wakatipu and the smaller Lake Hayes.

How to get there

By plane; there are many affordable flights from Sydney and other main destinations to Queenstown New Zealand. Once you are in Queenstown there are many car rentals around the town. Coronet Peak is about a 25 minute drive away from Queenstown.

By car; there directions are very simple, head northwest on Stanley St and take a right on Shotover St, continue on Gorge Rd for about 5km. Turn right at Arthurs Point Rd and follow it for 2km then take a slight left at Coronet Peak Rd which then you will arrive at the ski field.

Shuttle buses run regularly by various operators to coronet peak. You can pick up a shuttle from various pick-up points around Queenstown. Accomodation pick-ups are also available.

Coronet Peak is one of New Zealands most popular ski fields due to its proximity to Queenstown. The Peak offers a high speed quad chairlift, highspeed six seater chair lift, Magic Carpet and excellent beginners areas. The mountain has many different runs for the beginner right up to the advanced riders. Coronet Peak is often used as the site for pro racers and riders as racing and training grounds. Children from the ages of two to seventeen are supervised in a variety of programs from the Skiwiland Early Learning Centre through to advanced ski and snowboard training programs.

Après Ski

Coronet Peak offers 4 restaurants of your choice to relax in. The West End Café is located on the lower level of the base building which serves fast food and hot and cold drinks. The Coronet Brassiere is located upstairs of the base building which is great for a nice sit down breakfast, lunch and ala carte dinner. The Shack is located outside the main building which is great for snacks and drinks for those on the run and Heidi's is located at the base of the T-Bar which is great for a sit down of Italian food and wine. Queenstown offers many off the snow activities for everyone. Some include horse riding, fishing, bungy jumping, white water rafting and many more. Queenstown also has a variety of accommodation, bars, restaurants and casinos for you to enjoy.
