Resort Overview

Perisher is immerse, seven mountain peaks across four resort areas (Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Blue Cow & Guthega) with accommodation tucked in all the valleys.  Perisher is Australasia's largest ski resort with over 1245 hectares of skiable terrain serviced by 48 lifts.  There is something for everyone!  Several Kids & Adult friendly beginner's areas, extensive groomed trails for the intermediates and tree riding and 6 terrain parks for the more advanced.

Location

Perisher is in Kosciuszko National Park situated in the Snowy Mountains.  The Snowy Mountains are in the South East of Australia and are equidistant between Sydney and Melbourne.

How to get there

By Car; From Sydney will take approximately 5-6hrs.  The fastest way is via the M5.  From Melbourne best access is via the Hume to Tumut.  The road from Jindabyne to Perisher is fully sealed and is often covered with snow.  All two wheel drive vehicles MUST carry chains in the national park.  Chain can be hired from Jindabyne Service Stations.   You will be required to pay an entry fee for the National Park which is $27 per vehicle per day. 

You are unable to park overnight in the main car parks, some properties have car parking (Guthega/Smiggins) but generally you will have to drop off luggage in Perisher and park your car at Sawpit creek, or drive direct to the Skitube (Rarely snow on the road) and leave your car for the duration of your holiday and take the train to the resort.

By Coach from Sydney or Canberra there are regular services.  If you take the coach you must stay in Perisher village because there are no daily shuttles from any other towns to the slopes.

By Air; there are regular flights to Canberra from all major Australian airports.  You can either rent a car or book an airport transfer.

On Trail Facts

Perisher has an extensive ski /board school program that caters for school group to individual private lessons.  With such an expanse of terrain there is enough room for everyone to learn.  Once you can ski /board you have 60% of the resort to ride!  You should never have to ride the same trail twice in a day.  Some may say there is too much traversing to satisfy an advanced  rider, we would say they have not investigated Perisher, try an advanced lesson, learn to ride powder, crud and tree and 1245 + ha is yours!

Other activities and services on offer include Guided Tours & Tips, First Tracks mornings, night skiing (Tuesday and Saturday nights), telemark skiing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Après Ski

Regroup, relax and share the day's adventures in a bubbling hot tub or in front of an open fire.  Once hunger kicks in there are dozens of restaurants to choose from offering a variety of flavours from modern Australian cuisine, to freshly made pizza in intimate romantic candlelight surroundings or casual restaurants.  If you still have anything left relax in the piano bar, listen to a band or dance the night away.
